Iron Batteries
... Edison's Durable Storage Cell patented 1899. ![]() Shown above is a 300 AH Nickel Iron Cell We are in the process of
testing the battery system which will be for
sale in June 2010. If you are interested in testing the early imports, please contact us. The ones we are importing for solar systems will be 100 AH 200 AH 400 AH, 600 AH and 1000 AH @ 1.2 volts. This remarkable cell and battery design ran in the Detroit Electric Car which was sold in 1912 to 1918. One of these cars was bought by a Victoria BC woman and it was still in operation in 1997 on the original Ni-Fe battery. This is a chemistry that is greatly superior to the lead acid based batteries typically used in solar home installations. For environmental reasons we will only be offering nickel iron batteries in our store. The range of these cells are 100 to 1000 amp hour ranges. Each cell is 1.2 volts and so you will need 21 batteries for a 24 volt system or 11 batteries for a 12 volt system. Lead acid batteries are toxic to the environment and it is estimated that 5 to 15% of them are not recycled and lead to a poisoning of the environment. We will only be carrying nickel iron batteries in our energy store. To purchase a Nickel Iron battery system please email us with your power requirements. Please state in the form of voltage plus amp hours. examples ...
200 amp hours @ 24 volts, 600 amp hours @ 36 volts. They are shipped with the dry
electrolyte crystals that needs to be mixed
with distilled water. Potassium Hydroxide is the electrolyte used and you can request the non-inclusion of the chemicals if prohibited in your country. We will give you a quote and will
request pre-payment to arrange for direct
shipping from China to any coastal region in North America or elsewhere. Systems are custom manufactured and the delivery time is about 2 months. Chinese shipping prices ... ours was less than $200 for a 300 kg shipment. (Sample Prices) Standard Monocrystalline /
Polycrystalline Silicon panels.
We are offering Sharp brand silicone solar panels in the 80-225 watt ranges. Prices including shipping to anywhere in Canada are available on request. Sharp 175 watt solar panel
The Sharp 175 watt
monocrystalline panels are $649 Canadian each with![]() discounts for quanity orders. These are one of the most popular panels for grid-tied systems. Shipping will be estimated if you email us with your location. If you need more than 30 panels for a big job there are special industrial prices. Please email us for module prices and shipping charges. Other models are available in the 198 watt and 225 watt ranges. We recommend the 175 watt model since it is both economical and high quality plus it is easy to handle. Panels larger than 175 watts are a bit too large for convenient installation. However they are available upon request. Panels are warehoused in British Columbia (Victoria and Vancouver) and Ontario (Barrie). If you live in these cities you can pick them up yourself. At this time for home and industry use we are recommending monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon solar modules. These panels are guaranteed by Sharp for 20 years and are know in tests to operate for 40 years. Hydrogen Fuel Cells
![]() ![]() Solar Panels using CIGS
This new
photovoltaic technology is in production in 2009 and is
expected to (Copper, Indium, Gallium and Selenium) thin film technology bring the price of photovoltaic systems to about 1/2 of the price of silicon based systems. These panels are ideally suited for megawatt installations but they are experimental at this stage. Their lifespan is unknown. However we can bring these in for lab and scientific applications on request. ![]() Solar
